ONE DOUBLE-HEARTED

SOUPERNATURAL Madrid 2025

A round brick table is a complex system of symbols exploring motherhood, colonialism and rootedness. The composition of soil, prints done by a sustainable darkroom process with ginger and ginger flowers from Hong Kong, edible paper spoons and ginger ferments and dishes such as ginger kombucha candied ginger, ginger pickles, ginger fried rice, offers the artist multiple entry points to investigate one's identity as from honouring her mother's postpartum meals to Hong Kong's symbols of resistance, the work weaves personal history with political landscapes, inviting participants to dig, eat and ferment identity politics.
